Is this still a thing??? I don't know, but this collection includes some with pewter and silver (I think). Just clean them up and bring them to a pawn shop if you really want. Whatever you do, just buy them and take them off my hands.
In case you didn’t know…this is a collection of souvenir spoons and a wooden display rack. Souvenir spoons are collected as mementos of places visited. The wooden rack is designed to hang and display these spoons.
Souvenir spoons became popular in the late 1800s, inspired by European travel keepsakes.
The first US souvenir spoon, featuring George Washington, was made in 1889.
They often depict landmarks, historical figures, or local symbols.
Souvenir spoons are typically teaspoon-sized, but some are larger and more ornate.
Some collectors look for hallmarks to determine if the spoon is sterling silver.
Wealthy tourists visiting Europe commonly brought back souvenir spoons.
Today, souvenir spoons are still popular keepsakes and collectibles.
They can be displayed on special racks or in cabinets.
