The Munich Illustrated Press was founded in 1924. It was innovative and highly competitive with the Berlin Illustrierte newspaper at that time.
In 1933 the circulation 650,000 and, in March of that year, the National Socialists took control of the newspaper.
The edition which is for sale highlights the dangerous but popular sport in Bavaria at the time, mountain climbing. Another featured article asks: America, do you have it better? Pictures of homeless and displaced persons imply the (much) better conditions in Germany.
The 30-page newspaper is yellowed with age but remains in good condition. It is a bit frayed around the top and bottom, but remains a prized historical document and a great German souvenir. (It is guaranteed, of course, to have been printed in Germany.)
